Please see information below for camping area status (open/closed) in Rinyirru (Lakefield) National Park (CYPAL).

The following camping areas south of Lakefield ranger base are now open:

  • Kalpowar Crossing
  • Mick Fienn Waterhole
  • Dingo Waterhole
  • Kennedy Bend (noting camp sites 3 and 4 will remain closed until further notice).
  • Twelve Mile Lagoon
  • Six Mile Waterhole
  • Old Laura Homestead
  • Horseshoe Lagoon
  • Welcome Waterhole.

The following camping areas north of Lakefield ranger base will reopen Monday 8 July 2024:

  • Sweetwater Lake
  • Annie River
  • Five Mile Creek
  • Seven Mile
  • Saltwater Crossing
  • Bizant River
  • Brown Creek
  • Basin Hole
  • Orange Plain Waterhole
  • Hann Crossing
  • Hanushs Waterhole
  • Melaleuca Waterhole
  • Midway Waterhole.

The following camping areas remain closed with an anticipated reopening date of Monday 15 July 2024 (subject to road and weather conditions):

  • Old Faithful Waterhole
  • Top Whiphandle Waterhole
  • Bottom Whiphandle Waterhole.
