This alert applies to the following park:

The Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service intends to conduct a planned burn in the Beerburrum section of Glass House Mountains National Park. This burn is scheduled for the coming weeks, or as soon as weather conditions are favourable.

The following areas will be closed to public access during the burn:

  • Mt Beerburrum trailhead and summit walk,
  • Soldier settlers shared trail,
  • Yul-yan-man track, and
  • Trachyte circuit.

Detailed information regarding the dates and associated closures will be posted as an additional Park Alert on the Department's website once this information is known. 

This burn is part of our hazard reduction and conservation management program for parks and forests estate. QPWS&P conducts burns to decrease wildfire risk for protection of the community.  Fire is also essential for the health of our native plant communities.

Smoke may be seen in the vicinity of the Beerburrum section of the national park during and after the burn. Persons with respiratory or other health problems should seek medical advice on mitigating the effects of smoke inhalation.

Commercial tour operators and other permit or agreement holders are not permitted to enter closed areas.

Please observe all signage, barriers and directions from rangers and do not enter closed areas.
