This alert applies to the following park:
- Bribie Island National Park and Recreation AreaBrisbane; Sunshine Coast
Several low-lying camp sites adjacent to Pumicestone Passage on the western side of Bribie Island Recreation Area will be closed on a recurring basis throughout 2025 due to tidal inundation from forecast large high tides.
Affected camp sites include:
- Lime Pocket camping area - All sites
- Mission Point camping area - Sites 1-6
- Gallagher Point camping area - All sites
- Poverty Creek camping area - Sites 4 & 5
Please note heights are taken from the Brisbane Bar tide chart. This is due to the changes in water flow caused by the northern breakaway section of Bribie Island.
On waterfront sites, campers should, where possible, consider placing tents and camping equipment back from the water’s edge to avoid any inundation from passing boats.
Please observe all signage, barriers and directions from rangers and do not enter closed areas.
Stay up to date with weather forecasts, conditions and warnings.
Please monitor park alerts on the department's website for updated information.
