On water signage in Great Sandy Marine Park

This alert applies to the following park:

Great Sandy Marine Park users are advised not to rely on the presence of signage to inform them of their location within the various zones of the marine park. Marine Park zones are defined solely by GPS boundary locations, and users must refer to Schedule 1 and 2 of the Marine Parks (Great Sandy) Zoning Plan 2024 for precise boundary descriptions. There are reliable digital platforms which provide all-round coverage and information of all the zones and designated areas for users. eg. Electronic chart systems used on GPS chart plotters, electronic chart Apps used for navigation on smart devices, including Marine SQ App and the QLD Fisheries 2.0 App. Legacy advisory signs installed since 2006 are progressively phased out and updating of the Great Sandy Marine Park printed and web materials will continue to occur progressively.
