This alert applies to the following parks:

Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) will be conducting planned burning in Daintree National Park, Mount Lewis National Park , Mount Windsor National Park and Ngalba-Bulal National Park from Thursday 26 September 2024 onwards. Aircraft will be operating in the area during this period.

The sections included in this planned burning activity are:

  • Daintree National Park (Adeline Creek section)
  • Mount Lewis National Park (Mount Spurgeon Road)
  • Mount Windsor National Park (Mount Windsor access road)
  • Ngalba-Bulal National Park (Granite Creek)

Most fire activity is expected to self-extinguish each evening, however some fire may remain active and smoke visible for 2 to 3 days following ignition.

Burns will continue in the area as weather and seasonal conditions allow over coming weeks and months.

QPWS will monitor fire activity until it is out.
