Rinyirru (Lakefield) National Park (CYPAL) is closed for the wet season. Predicting re-opening dates is a challenge and will depend on type of wet season, road and weather conditions, as well as ensuring camp sites are safe to re-open.
The following camping areas south of Lakefield ranger base are anticipated to reopen Sunday 1 June 2025:
- Kalpowar Crossing
- Mick Fienn Waterhole
- Dingo Waterhole
- Old Faithful Waterhole
- Kennedy Bend
- Twelve Mile Lagoon
- Six Mile Waterhole
- Old Laura Homestead
- Horseshoe Lagoon
- Welcome Waterhole
Due to the unpredictable nature of wet seasons and the need to open camp sites when it is safe to do so, the following sites (north of Lakefield ranger base) will be available to be booked from Tuesday 15 July 2025. Conditions throughout the wet season will be closely monitored and this date will be modified accordingly. This park alert will be updated as it becomes clearer when these sites can be safely opened :
