The Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) have made the decision to permanently close the Lonesome camping area in Expedition National Park from 1 December 2024.
Recently the land where the camping area is located was revoked for the benefit of resource access and is no longer managed by QPWS.
What does this mean for park users?
Visitors can still enjoy the existing recreational opportunities in other parts of the park, including access to picnic facilities at the Lonesome lookout.
Remote camping opportunities are available in other sections of Expedition National Park and nearby park locations. Check out the department's website for more details.
