Large tides and ocean swell affecting beach driving

This alert applies to the following parks:

K’gari (Fraser Island) and Cooloola sections in Great Sandy National Park and Inskip Peninsula Recreation Area are expecting very large high tides and large ocean swell with sections of beach likely to be impassable at high tide.

Motorists driving on open beaches are advised to plan ahead by checking tide times and only travel around lowest expected low tides. Beach hazards including sand depressions, washouts, fallen trees, exposed coffee rock and debris including logs may be present.

Remember, driving over vegetated dunes is prohibited. On-the-spot fines will be issued for anyone caught damaging the dunes.
