This alert applies to the following parks:

Due to the safety risks associated with cyclone Alfred, temporary walking track and remote area camping site closures will be in place until the areas are assessed and declared safe by the rangers.

The shorter walking tracks within Springbrook National Park will remain open while the longer tracks will remain temporarily closed until declared safe.

Areas that will remain open include:

  • Gwongorella picnic area, including PB western lookout;
  • Natural Bridge circuit, including glow worm cave;
  • Goomoolahra picnic area, including lookouts;
  • Settlement DUA; and
  • Settlement Camping Area
  • Mount Cougal - Cascades track

Lookouts that will remain open:

  • Canyon lookout on the Twin Falls circuit
  • Western lookout on the Purling Brook Falls circuit

Closed areas include:

  • Best of All walking track and lookout
  • Purling Brook circuit  
  • Twin Falls circuit 
  • Warrie circuit
  • Warringa Pool track 
  • Gold Coast Hinterland Great Walks track 
  • Woonoongoora Walkers' camp

Please be advised, further walking areas may be closed within Springbrook National Park over the coming days as the cyclone (Alfred) moves closer to land.

Observe all signage, barriers, and directions from rangers and do not enter closed areas.

Commercial tour operators and other permit or agreement holders are not permitted to enter closed areas.
