All camping areas and tracks in the Bribie Island Recreation Area will be reopened to visitors from 12pm Saturday 15th March 2025 following safety assessments and track repairs caused by intense rainfall, strong winds and large surf from TC Alfred.
Motorist should use caution when travelling along the open sections of beach and travel at a reduced speed to avoid hazards such as steep sand dunes, hidden banks, fallen trees, exposed mangrove mud, exposed WWII structures and large debris.
First Lagoon on Ocean Beach has broken through and is flowing across the beach. Deep washouts are also likely around all four lagoons with conditions changing on a tidal basis. Check depth before crossing lagoons as fast flowing water and soft sand can make vehicle crossing dangerous. Remember, driving over vegetated dunes is not permitted despite conditions. Fines apply for anyone driving or parking on vegetated dunes.
Beach travel is recommended one hour either side of low tide. Travel three hours either side of high tide should be avoided.
Severe beach erosion along Ocean Beach has created steep sand dunes which are unstable and can collapse without warning.
