This alert applies to the following parks:
- K'gari, Great Sandy National ParkFraser Coast
- K'gari (formerly Fraser Island) Great WalkFraser Coast
Due to damage from Ex Tropical Cyclone Alfred, the following areas on K’gari Great Walk are temporarily CLOSED until further notice:
- Jabiru access track (Hook Point to Dilli Village). Includes hiker’s camp:
- Jabiru Swamp
- Northern Section (Lake Wabby West to Happy Valley). Includes hiker’s camps:
- Valley of the Giants
- Lake Garawongera
The southern and central section of the K'gari Great Walk is OPEN including the Eurong, Wabby, Wanggoolba, Kingfisher and Dundonga feeder tracks and hikers camps:
- Lake Benaroon
- Lake Boomanjin
- Central Station
- Lake McKenzie (Boorangoora)
- Lake Wabby
Please observe all signage, barriers and directions from rangers and do not enter closed areas.
Facilities will continue to be assessed and reopened when deemed safe.
