The Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) conducts planned burns around the State to reduce the risk and intensity of bushfires and support a healthy environment. As a result of the planned burn, smoke may be seen in the nearby areas. Avoid driving through smoke where possible and be aware of firefighters working in the area. These burns aim to mitigate the risk and intensity of bushfires and their potential impacts on communities, infrastructure, parks, and forests. They are also vital in promoting ecological health, biodiversity, and the conservation of species and habitats. Planned burns are highly weather-dependent, summer burns rely on high soil moisture to encourage natives to re-establish quickly. Please follow the warnings and advise of any signs and any directions given by Rangers. If smoke affects you: Stay indoors and close windows and doors; and Keep respiratory medication close by. Please observe all signage, barriers and directions from rangers and do not enter closed areas.
