This alert applies to the following parks:

Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) and Quandamooka Yoolooburrabee Aboriginal Corporation (QYAC) rangers will conduct a planned burn between 10/06/2025 and 17/06/2025, weather permitting, as part of the annual fire management program for Naree Budjong Djara National Park and Minjerribah Recreation Area.

Firefighters and machinery may be working along roadsides in the vicinity of Alfred Martin Way. For your safety and the safety of firefighters, please observe all signs, barriers, and directions from rangers and do not enter closed areas.

Smoke may be seen across Minjerribah (North Stradbroke Island), including Point Lookout, Main Beach (Minjerribah) and nearby areas such as the Southern Bay Islands. Persons with respiratory or other health problems should seek medical advice on mitigating the effects of smoke inhalation.

Planned burns are vital in promoting ecological health, biodiversity, and the conservation of species and habitats. They also aim to mitigate the risk and intensity of bushfires and their potential impacts on communities, infrastructure, parks, and forests.

Please monitor park alerts on the department's website for updated information.
