This alert applies to the following parks:

Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) will be conducting a planned burn (weather permitting) from Saturday 2 August 2025 to Friday 8 August 2025, as part of the fire management program for Great Sandy National Park, K’gari section.

QPWS Rangers and machinery may be working along roadsides in the vicinity of Eurong Road and Wanggoolba Road. For your safety and the safety of authorities, please slow down and observe all directions and signs.

Smoke may be seen in the vicinity of Eurong Road, Wanggoolba Road, and Eurong. Persons with respiratory or other health problems should seek medical advice on mitigating the effects of smoke inhalation.

Planned burns are vital in promoting ecological health, biodiversity, and the conservation of species and habitats. They also aim to mitigate the risk and intensity of bushfires and their potential impacts on communities, infrastructure, parks, and forests.
