Roadworks at Cunninghams Gap - temporary changes of walking tracks

This alert applies to the following park:
- Main Range National ParkBrisbane; Southern Queensland Country
Due to current and ongoing restoration works on the Cunningham Highway, walking tracks and visitor areas at the Cunninghams Gap section of Main Range National Park have been temporarily affected.
The following visitor areas have changed conditions:
- All Cunningham Gap section walking tracks start from the West Gap Creek picnic area, via the Box Forest track. This includes Mount Cordeaux, Mount Mitchell, Bare Rock and the Rainforest circuit tracks. Walkers need to be aware of the extra 5km this will add to their intended walk.
- Access to The Crest carpark will be closed to all traffic from the Cunningham Highway.
- Mount Mitchell track has been temporarily realigned and can be accessed from the western side of The Crest carpark via a temporary pedestrian crossing.
- Visitors are encouraged to park at West Gap Creek picnic area 1.7km west from The Crest carpark.
- Visitors are reminded that parking along the Cunningham Highway is prohibited.
Road conditions and roadworks signage may vary depending on the stage of construction, and visitors are asked to follow all instructions and drive safely to road conditions.
