This alert applies to the following parks:
- Bartle Frere trail, Wooroonooran National ParkTropical North Queensland
- Danbulla National Park and State ForestTropical North Queensland
- Crater Lakes National ParkTropical North Queensland
- Wooroonooran National ParkTropical North Queensland
- Gadgarra National ParkTropical North Queensland
Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) and the Dulabed and Malanbarra Aboriginal Corporation (DMYAC) will be conducting planned burning in Gadgarra National Park from Wednesday 25 September 2024.
- Burning will be conducted between Butchers and Toohey Creek.
- Access to Windin Falls and Bartle Frere will not be impacted by these operations.
- Most fire activity is expected to self-extinguish each evening, however some fire may remain active and smoke visible for 2 to 3 days following ignition. QPWS will monitor fire activity until it is out.
- Burns will continue in the area as conditions allow over coming weeks and months.
