This alert applies to the following park:
- D'Aguilar National ParkBrisbane
The Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) will conduct a planned burn in D’Aguilar National Park (Enoggera Reservoir area,) on Tuesday February 18 to Friday February 21, weather permitting, as part of the annual hazard reduction/conservation management program for parks and forests. As a result smoke will be seen in The Gap, Brookfield, Camp Mountain Upper Kedron, Ferny Grove, Keperra and Mount Nebo areas.
The following areas are restricted to the public during lighting operations and the following days; Holmans Break, 69 Break, McDonalds Loop, E-Break, the southern section of Reservoir Break and South Boundary Road between Holmans Break and the Payne Road gate. There will also be an increase on the amount of fire-fighting vehicles on these roads whilst firefighting activities and patrolling are taking place.
The aim of this burn is to reduce the volume of forest fuels and to create a mosaic pattern of burnt and unburnt areas. This will help reduce the intensity of any subsequent bushfire and provide favourable conditions for natural forest revegetation. Smoke can decrease visibility on the roads, so it is important that motorist drive safely to the conditions. Please observe signage and barriers and do not enter closed areas and follow directions from Rangers. Safety is our concern but your responsibility. For more information, please contact The Gap office of QPWS on 07 3164 3600.
