Begin your adventure from the Charlie Moreland day-use area by wading across Little Yabba Creek. Look for water beetles zipping across the surface while fish, including Pacific blue eyes, swim below.
Creek banks lined with riparian rainforest offer relief from the heat, both for you and the local birdlife. Listen for noisy lorikeets flying overhead and look for graceful honeyeaters, doves, fantails and tiny quails. Discover towering hoop pines before enjoying a cool swim in one of the waterholes in Little Yabba Creek. The circuit returns through the Charlie Moreland camping area (adjoining the day-use area).
This walk includes natural creek crossings—rocks can be slippery—cross with care.
Do not dive or jump into the creek and rockpools—water depth is variable and unpredictable, and there are submerged rocks and logs.
Do not cross or enter creeks in flood conditions.
Getting there and getting around
The circuit starts from the Charlie Moreland day-use area.
From Kenilworth, follow Maleny–Kenilworth Road for 6.2km and turn right onto Sunday Creek Road and drive another 5km to reach the day-use area.
Sunday Creek Road is a gravel road suitable for conventional, two-wheel-drive vehicles travelling from the east, however caution is required during wet weather.
Warning: Heavy rain can flood creek crossings.
