Getting there and getting around
The Alligator Creek camping area is in the Mount Elliot section of Bowling Green Bay National Park about 25km south of Townsville on the Bruce Highway (there is no public transport).
- Turn off the Bruce Highway onto Alligator Creek Road.
- Travel 6km south on Alligator Creek Road to reach the Alligator Creek day-use area.
- Once at the Alligator Creek day-use area follow the directional signs to the entrance of the Alligator Creek camping area.

Camp site 1 at Alligator Creek camping area is an accessible camp site suitable for persons with a disability.
The Alligator Creek day-use area toilets, some of the picnic facilities and the Alligator Creek walk are wheelchair-accessible.

Opening hours
Alligator Creek camping area is open all year round. Access may be closed at times due to localised flooding, severe weather or park management activities.

Camping area features
Access: Alligator Creek camping area can be reached by conventional vehicle. The camping area is situated adjacent to the day-use area. Camp sites 7, 8 a d 9 are tent-based camping away from your vehicle (short walk to camp site).

Camp sites are suitable for: camp site 1 is an accessible site, suitable for persons with a disability, camp sites 1–4 are suitable for camper trailers and tent-based camping, camp sites 5 and 6 are suitable for campervans and tent-based camping, and camp sites 7, 8 and 9 are suitable for tent-based camping away from your vehicle.
Facilities: toilets (flush) are located close to the camping area. Picnic tables (some sheltered), picnic platforms, and electric barbeques are located at the adjacent day-use area.
Camp fires: prohibited.
Generators: not permitted.
Essentials to bring: drinking water, rubbish bags (no bins are provided), insect repellent, fuel or gas stove. Read more about before you visit.

Camp sites must be booked and paid for before arriving at the camping area. It is recommended you book early to avoid missing out, particularly during peak visitor periods. The maximum length of stay at this camping area is 7 consecutive nights.
