From the town of Woodgate, venture into a lush tea-tree wetland along this wheelchair and pram-friendly boardwalk. Keep your eyes peeled for kangaroos lazing in the shade and listen to a cacophony of bird calls in the canopy above.
At the end of the boardwalk (400m) you can return the way you came, or continue through more tea-tree wetlands, towering cabbage palm stands and forests of eucalypts and banksias. Eventually you’ll find yourself among wallum heath that, in winter and spring, is awash with colour and birdlife. Make sure you have your camera ready!
