Crocodile camping area is around 2km long, and has a shady beach-front vegetation and is bounded by tidal creeks.

Features: around 2km long, this camping area has shady beach-front vegetation and is bounded by tidal creeks. An extensive estuarine river system is extremely close to the southern end of this camping area. Large crocodiles are frequently seen here—always be croc wise in croc country.

Location: by the beach at Bathurst Bay between the Muck River and Nookai day-use area. The access track meets the beach 39km from Wakooka outstation (35km from the park boundary).

Access: the camping area can be reached by high-clearance four-wheel-drive vehicle only—it is not accessible for trailers, caravans, campervans or buses. Access involves four-wheel driving in sand. Do not drive on the salt flats behind the beach or attempt to cross the tidal creek at the southern end of the camping area.

Number of sites: open area without separately defined sites.

Camp sites are suitable for: tent camping beside your car.

Camp site surface: sand.

Facilities: none.

Open fires: allowed (except when fire bans apply). Fuel stoves are recommended. Do not collect firewood in the park.

Generator use: generators that operate at a noise level less than 65dB(A) when measured at 7m from the generator are permitted.

Essentials to bring: adequate food and drinking water, rubbish bags, insect repellent, mosquito nets, fuel stove and adequate fuel, spare parts for your vehicle and recovery equipment. Read more about before you visit.
