Ninian Bay camping area

Ninian Bay camping area has shady woodland vegetation and is bounded by a rocky outcrop to the west and mangroves to the east. Inland from the camping area is a swamp—large crocodiles are frequently seen here.

Features: around 1km long, this camping area has shady woodland vegetation and is bounded by a rocky outcrop to the west and mangroves to the east. Inland from the camping area is a swamp—large crocodiles are frequently seen here. Always be croc wise in croc country.

Location: by the beach of Ninian Bay. The track meets the beach 41km from Wakooka outstation (39km from the national park boundary).

Access: the camping area can be reached by high-clearance four-wheel-drive vehicle only—it is not accessible for trailers, caravans, campervans or buses.

Number of sites: open area without separately defined sites.

Camp sites are suitable for: tent camping beside your car.

Camp site surface: sand.

Facilities: none.

Open fires: allowed (except when fire bans apply). Fuel stoves are recommended. Do not collect firewood in the park.

Generator use: generators that operate at a noise level less than 65dB(A) when measured at 7m from the generator are permitted.

Essentials to bring: adequate food and drinking water, rubbish bags, insect repellent, mosquito nets, fuel stove and adequate fuel, spare parts for your vehicle and recovery equipment. Read more about before you visit.
