Step from Lamington National Park Road through a green doorway into an impressive, closed rainforest community where curved buttress roots rise from the ground and booyong and fig trees tower overhead. As you walk, look at the colourful lichens and mosses that adorn the forest floor, tree trunks and rocks. Then pass into an open eucalypt forest where fire-adapted species such as grass trees, hakeas and various wildflowers grow.

Look for tree identification signs along the track to discover the unique features of each species.

The views from Python Rock lookout will take your breath way. Morans Falls, Castle Crag and Mount Razorback stretch out before you. See how millions of years of erosion have formed and widened the valley and created the intricate escarpments.

The guttural 'popping' of the masked mountain frog Kyarranus loveridgei can be heard on wet or moist days in late spring and summer. These ancient frogs are members of the Gondwanan family commonly known as southern frogs.

This park is part of the Gondwana Rainforests of Australia World Heritage Area, famed for its ongoing geological processes, evolutionary history, and diversity (especially of rare, threatened and endemic species).
