Enjoy a barbecue or lay out a picnic under the pines beside Amamoor Creek, and enjoy a rainforest walk—walks begin at the trailhead across the road from the day-use area.

Enjoy a picnic on the banks of the Amamoor Creek in the shade of hoop and bunya pines, or sizzle a sausage or two on the barbecue provided.

If you're lucky (and quiet), at dawn or dusk you may spot a platypus in Amamoor Creek. Shy and elusive, bubbles on the water’s surface sometimes give them away.

Getting there and getting around

The Amama day-use area is 5km west of Amamoor township via Amamoor Creek Road—it is a sealed road to the day-use area and several kilometres beyond it.

There are no wheelchair-accessible facilities. Camping is not permitted in Amama day-use area.

Amama day-use area is open 24 hours a day. Camping is not permitted in Amama day-use area.

Your family dog is permitted here—conditions apply:

  • Your dog must always be on a leash and under control.
  • Always clean up after your dog—collect waste in a secure bag. Pack bags and a suitable storage container so you can take it away and dispose of it responsibly.

Be aware that dogs are not permitted in all areas of Amamoor State Forest. Know where dogs are permitted and access conditions.
