Camping area features

Remote hiking and camping. Only experienced and well-equipped bushwalkers should undertake extended overnight hikes.

Location: Mount Spec area north of Paluma to Jourama Falls

Access: hike-in access only (with no defined walking tracks).

Number of sites: no defined camping areas. Camp sites must be at least 1km from any other camping groups. A maximum of 6 remote campers are permitted in any one group.

Camp sites are suitable for: walk-in camping only.

Facilities: none. Must be self-sufficient. All rubbish (including food scraps) must be carried out.

Open fires: prohibited. Use fuel stoves only.

Generators: not permitted.

Essentials to bring: drinking water, extra food, first-aid kit, topographic map, compass, torch, warm clothing, wet weather gear, rubbish bags, insect repellent, fuel or gas stove, GPS and/or GPS-equipped Personal Locator Beacon or similar, and a small trowel for burying faecal waste. Bury human waste and toilet paper at least 15cm deep and 100m from camp sites, tracks and watercourses to guard against pollution and the spread of disease. Read more about before you visit.
