Camping in Bunya Mountains

The park has three camping areas—Dandabah, Westcott and Burtons Well—catering for a range of camping experiences from small walk-in tent sites, to open areas suitable for larger groups and vehicles. All roads to the Bunya Mountains are steep, narrow and winding. Read more about accessing Bunya Mountains for visitors travelling in caravans, large motorhomes or large buses.

Camping permits are required and fees apply. You must obtain your permit before setting up camp. A tag with your booking number must be displayed at your camp site. Bookings can be made online, at an over-the-counter booking office, at the Tavern’s General Store or learn about our camping booking options.

Bookings should be made up to 12 months in advance for school holidays, long weekends and large groups.

The maximum length of stay is 29 nights.

Ticks are active all year in the Bunya Mountains and can cause serious illness or paralysis. Wear insect repellent and check yourself and children carefully for ticks. Find more information on bites and stings.
