Once the site of a thriving timber sawmill, this day-use area is now the gateway to exploring the northern section of D'Aguilar National Park.
Discover the legacy of a sawmill that operated here from the 1930s when boilers ran the steam engine right through to 1981.
Pack a picnic or cook-up a barbecue and enjoy a relaxed lunch in the spacious, grassy picnic area. If you're feeling energetic, both the Piccabeen walk and Somerset trail start and finish opposite the picnic area.
With a 4WD or trail bike you can make your visit a full-day park adventure—the Western Escarpment forest drive, Mount Mee forest drive and Range Road forest drive all begin from The Gantry. These roads are not suitable for conventional (2WD) vehicles.
Getting there and getting around
The Gantry is in the northern section (Mount Mee) of D'Aguilar National Park, about 70km from the city of Brisbane.
From the south—2WD vehicle access
- Drive 24km from Dayboro via Mount Mee Road (tourist route number 29) and Sellin Road to the park's entrance.
- Continue 920m to The Gantry.
- The road to The Gantry is suitable for conventional (2WD) vehicles.
From the north—4WD access only
- You will need a 4WD or trail bike to access this day-use area from the north.
The maximum speed limit on forest roads is 40km/hr and all road rules apply. - Drive 17km from Woodford via the D'Aguilar Highway, Neurum, Stanton and Rassmussen roads to the park's entrance.
- Continue south along the Mount Mee forest drive to The Gantry.

- Read trail bike ride with care for tips on riding safely and riding with care.
Wheelchair access
There are wheelchair-accessible car parking spaces, toilets, picnic tables, barbecues, and a pathway to The Gantry. Assistance may be required.
