Once the site of a thriving timber sawmill, this day-use area is now the gateway to exploring the northern section of D'Aguilar National Park.
Discover the legacy of a sawmill that operated here from the 1930s when boilers ran the steam engine right through to 1981.
Pack a picnic or cook-up a barbecue and enjoy a relaxed lunch in the spacious, grassy picnic area. If you're feeling energetic, both the Piccabeen walk and Somerset trail start and finish opposite the picnic area.
With a 4WD or trail bike you can make your visit a full-day park adventure—the Western Escarpment forest drive, Mount Mee forest drive and Range Road forest drive all begin from The Gantry. These roads are not suitable for conventional (2WD) vehicles.
The Gantry is in the northern section (Mount Mee) of D'Aguilar National Park, about 70km from the city of Brisbane.
There are wheelchair-accessible car parking spaces, toilets, picnic tables, barbecues, and a pathway to The Gantry. Assistance may be required.
The Gantry is open 24 hours a day
