Accessible only on foot or by mountain bike, this remote camp offers visitors a secluded bush camping experience.
As you walk, look for native daisies, vibrant pink rock orchids and tongue orchids growing along the road edges and from rock cuttings in spring.
Lush rainforest greets you at the start of Joyner's Ridge Road, as do spectacular views of the countryside along England Creek Road. Listen for the tinkling sounds of bellbirds in the surrounding trees.
Getting there and getting around
England Creek remote bush camp is located in the southern section of D'Aguilar National Park, about 46km north-west of Brisbane's city centre.
- Mount Nebo and Mount Glorious roads are sealed. All other access roads are unsealed, but suitable for two-wheel-drive (2WD).
- A topographic map and the specific map grid reference are required to navigate to the bush camp site. Topographic map grid reference: 734 753.

Via Joyners Ridge Road
- From the Brisbane suburb of The Gap, take Mount Nebo Road (tourist route number 8) to Walkabout Creek Discovery Centre.
- Continue along Mount Nebo Road and Mount Glorious Road for 30km to the entrance of Joyners Ridge Road, 200m south of Maiala.
- From the entrance to Joyners Ridge Road, walk or ride 11km, then onto England Creek Road to the remote bush camp.
Via Lawton Road
- From the Brisbane suburb of The Gap, take Mount Nebo Road (tourist route number 8) to Walkabout Creek Discovery Centre.
- Continue along Mount Nebo Road and Mount Glorious Road for about 32km to the entrance of Lawton Road, 2km north of Maiala.
- From the road entrance walk or ride along Lawton Road then turn left onto England Creek Road and follow it to the bush camp. The total distance is around 10.5km.
Before you visit
Opening hours
England Creek remote bush camp is open 24 hours a day. Check in to your camp after 2pm and check out by 11am on the day of departure.
Camping area features
Bush camping in the remote middle section of the park, alongside picturesque England Creek (though often dry). There are several water holes along England Creek Road, 10min south of the remote bush camp site.
Location: from Mount Glorious Road, the bush camping site is accessed by walking 10.5km along Lawton, England Creek, and Joyners Ridge roads. Lawton Road is a 45min drive from Walkabout Creek Discovery Centre in The Gap.

Access: the bush camp site is walk-in only. A topographic map is required to navigate to the bush camp site—map grid reference: 734 753.
Number of sites: open area without separately-defined sites. A maximum of 9 people (3 x 3-person tents) can camp in this area at one time.
Camp sites are suitable for: walk-in camping only.
Camp site surface: dirt and grass.
Facilities: none. Follow bush toileting practices.
Open fires: Fuel stoves are recommended. Open fires permitted in the fireplace provided (except when fire bans or prohibitions apply). Do not collect bush wood. Penalties apply for offenses.
Generators: not permitted.
Essentials to bring: drinking water*, first-aid kit, rubbish bags, insect repellent, fuel stove, tent, sturdy shoes and appropriate clothing.
*England Creek is often dry, but if available, treat all creek water before using.
