Campground features: Compact bush setting next to Gheerulla Creek.
Location: From the Bruce Highway take the Eumundi-Kenilworth Road and travel 24km to the Sam Kelly Road junction, turn left into this road and continue 2km to the camping area. Remove valuables from your vehicle and ensure your vehicle is locked before hiking or camping.
Access: Gheerulla camping area is 1.2km walk from the Sam Kelly Trailhead.
Number of sites: Three sites. Each site has a maximum capacity of six people.
Campsites are suitable for: Walk-in tent camping.
Campsite surface: Soil and leaf litter.
Facilities: Toilets.
Essentials to bring: Drinking water (creek water is unsuitable for drinking), insect repellent, sunscreen and rubbish bags (no bins provided).
Use fuel stoves only: No open fires are permitted along the Great Walk. Penalties apply. Carry gas or liquid spirit stoves for cooking. Test equipment before you go and never cook in your tent. Do not leave stoves unattended when lit.
Generators: Not permitted.
